How to read a certification or badge record
Before relying on a web accessibility certification or badge, check what the original source actually published.
Issuer: who published, tested, recognized, or awarded the record.
Scope: whether it covers the whole domain, selected services, selected pages, apps, PDFs, or a sample.
Standard and version: whether the source names WCAG, EN 301 549, local rules, levels, or testing methods.
Date and validity: whether the record has an issue date, report date, expiry date, award year, or no public validity rule.
Original source link: whether the record can be verified outside the website’s own badge image.
Limits to understand
Certification systems, recognition schemes, award programs, standard versions, validity rules, and badge levels differ by region and organization. Signal treats these as published public signals, not universal guarantees.
Different pages or services under the same domain may still vary in accessibility quality.
Some sources provide only a report date, not an explicit expiry date.
Some sources test only selected pages, not every flow across a whole website.
Machine scans, public badges, and accessibility statements do not replace manual review or assistive technology testing.

Accesserty collects Best Accessibility records that can be traced to concrete websites: 2025 pages link directly to websites, while 2021–2024 pages list agency names and require a maintained agency main-site mapping with that limitation preserved. Signal displays winners as Awarded and finalists or honourable mentions as Recognized.
Certificates are valid for 12 months. Some certificate pages show the issue date but no explicit expiry date.
